I'm doing a lesson where pupils have to explore themselves how to outwit an opponent by putting them in a 2v1 and 2v2 situation. When we discuss this, what answers should I look for exactly? Just in preparation for what could arise?
Do they enjoy being actors? That is the key to outwiting an opponent. You have to look one way fake a pass and go the other. You have to lean into a dribble and when the oponent bites go the other way. Faking a shot is an acting lesson in itself.
Ask your players and you'll be surprised by how much they know already.
In a 2v1 draw the defender away from the other attacker creating the space for your support player to run into.
In a 2v2 players will need to work harder and can use dummy passes, fake moves and 1-2 passing to get past their defender.
